By Introducing Circular Economy, Serbia Would Receive 30 Thousand New Jobs

Published 09.11.2017.

eco - ilustracijaDuring the panel discussion “How to implement Green Economy in Serbia” held in Novi Sad, it was stated that around 30 thousand new jobs could be opened in Serbia by merely introducing circular economy which integrates the economy and the waste management system. At the panel, it was also emphasised that, at a time when the effects of climate change are increasingly apparent, the concept of green economy must become more important and widely implemented in society and community.

The Director of the Centre for Circular Economy, environmental analyst Siniša Mitrović, said that in this way it would be possible to increase the competitiveness of the economy, thus making Serbia, as he said, a regional leader in development and investments.

Participants of the discussion also said that it was necessary to bring the concept of green economy, a model which implies recycling and reuse of all materials which are considered waste, either in production or for energy purposes, closer to the public.

The panel discussion in the Vojvodina Media Centre was organised by the Association of Journalists “Eko Vesti” with the media support of “Eko List” within the “Strengthen Awareness – the Environment is the First News” project supported by the Ministry for Environmental Protection.
