Panel Discussion “How to Become a (Green) Millionaire?” Held

Published 21.11.2017.

Kako postati (zeleni) milioner - Green FestThe green economy has arrived in Serbia, and we are expecting big changes in the future – say the organisers of the Green Fest, within which the panel discussion “How to become a (green) millionaire?” was held. During the discussion on jobs, which besides focusing on profit also consider the environment, a large number of green companies and good initiatives which are not market-oriented, but have proven to be successful, were presented. The importance of the civil sector and citizens being involved in addressing issues was also highlighted.

The profit indeed is one of the most important drivers in business, but it is also important to have a satisfaction of helping someone by doing something useful. Thinking about things outside the boundaries of your own world, about things which affect everyone, about environmental protection and correct exploitation of resources – these were all topics of the panel held in Dom Omladine, with the aim of directing the attention of the public towards the inextricable relationship between man and nature, and also to the possibility of developing business ideas while at the same time taking care of the environment.

Vladan Šćekić, organiser of the Green Fest, within which this panel discussion was held, says that there are more and more available jobs in the field of ecology, such as solar panels, ecosystem services dealing directly with nature, as well as plant-based production. “Predominantly young people are interested in these types of jobs because they are more prone to accepting new things. With this festival we are trying to provide them with as much information as possible”, says Šćekić, and adds that more and more companies are turning to ecology also for economic reasons.
