Resolution 1325: Public Hearing on the Draft of the National Action Plan

The Office for Cooperation with Civil Society of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Ministry of Youth and Sports and Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe – OSCE mission to Serbia (OSCE) invited the representatives of civil society organizations interested in it to participate in the electronic public hearing which is a component of the consultative process conducted in the period between May 11 and 30, 2016 and send their comments and suggestions on the Draft of the National Action Plan for the implementation of the Resolution 1325 of the United Nations Security Council – Women, Peace and Security in the Republic of Serbia (2016-2020) (in further text: NAP 1325 SB UN).

Resolution 1325 SB UN, adopted on October 31, 2000, is one of the most important resolutions of the world organization in the field of peace and security policy. This resolution emphasizes the repercussions of armed conflicts on women and girls and the importance of women in peacebuilding and post-conflict recovery of a country. Consequently, on December 23, 2010, the Government of the Republic of Serbia adopted the National Action Plan for Implementation of the Resolution 1325 of the United Nations Security Council – Women, Peace and Security in the Republic of Serbia (2010-2015).

The process of public consultations on the Draft of NAP 1325 SB UN, at the request of the Working Group and Ministry of Defence, is realized by the Office for Cooperation with Civil Society, in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, OSCE Mission to Serbia as well as the organs of local authorities with support of the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities of Serbia. Simultaneously with the electronic public hearing, the consultative meetings with civil society organizations will also be held in five towns in the Republic of Serbia while the final hearing is planned to be held in Belgrade on June 10, 2016.
