Published 28.04.2016.

neostart_konfThe Conference regarding the presentation of the results of the project “Support for the Implementation of New Legal Regulations in the Field of Post-penal Treatment”, conducted by the Centre for Criminal Prevention and Post-penal Rehabilitation – NEOSTART, with the support of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Serbia, was held.

Two important aims were realized by this project. The first one was networking of the Offices for the Alternative Sanctions in nine towns (Novi Sad, Subotica, Sombor, Užice, Niš, Kragujevac, Valjevo, Kraljevo i Požarevac) with the representatives of organizations and institutions as well as individuals in local community on which commissioners for alternative sanctions can rely on in providing post-penal help and support. In every of the above-mentioned towns round tables were held, gathering the representatives of institutions and organizations who met with commissioners from their towns and exchanged knowledge, experience and eventually contacts for further cooperation. In this way commissioners are enabled to easily direct an ex-convict included in the post-penal help and support programme to a concrete person in a certain institution/organization to realize their rights.

The second realized aim is the created model of the post-penal practice on the basis of cooperation between NEOSTART and the Office for the Alternative Sanctions in Belgrade and the County Jail in Belgrade. The realization of this aim is reflected in the publication “Modern Society and Post-penal Practice” presented at the Conference, It contains the description of all important factors of the good post-penal practice to which every modern society should strive.
