The Labour Force Survey is a survey collecting data on the main characteristics of the labour force, on the basis of which the total labour force in the country is estimated. The key goal of this survey is to obtain data on the three main, mutually exclusive, population contingents: the employed, the unemployed and the inactive. The survey focuses on the working-age population (15–64), and the data obtained are used for monitoring, measuring and assessing the economic and social developments in the Republic of Serbia.
In conducting this survey, methodological solutions consistent with the International Labour Organization (ILO) recommendations and definitions and Eurostat requirements are applied, providing the key source for international data comparisons between the Republic of Serbia and other countries in the area of labour statistics.
From 2014 onwards, the sampling frame for the Labour Force Survey is the 2011 Census of Population, Households and Dwellings, and the survey is conducted quarterly on a sample of over 10,000 households.
