According to the latest report by the European Healthcare Consumer Index, Serbia made progress on the rankings of healthcare systems, taking 24th place last year among 35 countries.
“Our country achieved 116 points more than in 2015, when it took 30th place, giving Serbia, according to assessments by the researchers of this organization, the title of the country with the highest progress rate in 2016”, states the notice by the Ministry of Health of Serbia.
As stated, Serbia made progress “primarily through the effects of introducing the new information system in healthcare, leading to improved access to healthcare protection, as well as a decrease in the waiting lists and waiting times”.
EHCI analyses national healthcare systems based on 48 indicators, including fields such as patient rights and information, access to healthcare, treatment outcomes, scope and area of services, prevention and use of pharmaceutical products.
