The Government of the Republic of Serbia adopted an Action Plan for implementation of the Strategy of Prevention and Protection against Discrimination 2014 – 2018 at its session held on Thursday, 02 October 2014.
By passing the Strategy of Prevention and Protection against Discrimination in June 2013, the Republic of Serbia has committed to systemic buildign of an institutional and legal framework and the mechanisms for combating discrimination. The framework for implementation of the strategic objectives has been defined in the Action Plan that will allow for fulfillment of objectives and implementation of measures set down in the Strategy and for systemic monitorinf of implementation thereof. The Action Plan provides for concrete measures and activities necessary for fulfillment of the strategic objectives, timelines, institutions in charge and resources. It also defines benchmarks on the basis of which the implementation of objectives will be monitored, the indicators of success of the objectives and the resources required for implementation of the measures defined.
The adoption of the Action Plan for implementation of the Strategy of Prevention and Protection against Discrimination represents an important step in the overall process of European integration and reforms in the area of anti-discrimination. It is worth noting that the document is aligned with the Action Plans for EU Accession for negotiation chapters 23 and 24.
