Contracts were signed in Belgrade with 111 associations for improving the status of persons with disabilities and their families, to whom the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs approved state aid to a total amount of 64.8 million dinars.
The contracts were signed by minister Vulin, the president of the Association of the Blind of Serbia Milan Stošić, president of the Association for Assistance to Persons with Developmental Disabilities Svetlana Vlahović and the president of the National Organization for Persons with Disabilities Ivanka Jovanović.
After the contract signing ceremony minister Vulin told the reporters that 111 associations and organizations received state aid to a total amount of 64.8 million dinars for various projects improving the status of persons with disabilities and their families. “This is our obligation, but it is also more than an obligation, it is our duty. Persons with disabilities are not a burden to this society, and with other ministries, as well as what this ministry is doing, we are trying to significantly improve the status of persons with disabilities,” said Vulin.
According to data from the Ministry of Labour, the funds support 54 projects for the prevention of deinstitutionalization and institutionalization with around 38.9 million dinars, 13 projects for increasing accessibility for persons with disabilities to a total amount of five million dinars, 44 projects with the theme of providing support services for independent living of persons with disabilities with around 20.8 million dinars.
Support was also provided for 40 projects dealing with the improvement of the status of persons with intellectual disabilities, 17 projects for improving the status of persons with physical disabilities, 25 projects for persons with sensory disabilities and 29 projects with mixed target groups.
