On July 24, Minister of Labor, Employment, Veterans’ and Social Affairs at the Government of the Republic of Serbia Zoran Đorđević visited the Center for the Protection of Infants, Children and Youth in Zvečanska street in Belgrade to learn about the work of this institution and the needs of the children in its care.
The Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veterans’ and Social Affairs will strive to help and provide better conditions in this center in the coming period, as well as to secure facilitating measures for foster families.
The Center for the Protection of Infants, Children and Youth in Belgrade has a long tradition of temporary care for children of all ages who are unable to stay in their biological families. The institution cares for the children until they are provided with the appropriate family environment (biological, adoptive, or foster families) or until they reach adulthood and get trained for everyday life.
The institution has the capacity to accommodate 528 children who are cared for by 378 employees, and it encompasses a total of seven facilities, according to a statement from the Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veterans’ and Social Affairs.
