BOSIFEST 2015 – The sixth Belgrade international film festival of persons with disabilities was held between 1 and 3 June 2015 at the Youth Centre of Belgrade, under the slogan “Labyrinth of Possibilities”.
BOSIFEST is an international film festival of persons with disabilities, the only one of its kind in South Eastern Europe, held this year for the sixth time in Serbia, organized by Handy Centre Koloseum. A large number of films were screened this year as well – both in the competitive, as well as the non-competitive part. Until now, BOSIFEST showed over 200 films, dealing with the issues of life of persons with disabilities, or their authors being persons with disabilities.
In addition to showing the films, BOSIFEST also offered ancillary programmes such as workshops, panel discussions and roundtables.
The goal in founding BOSIFEST is to show the creative work and abilities of participants in the public cultural scene and spreading the message that persons with disabilities should have the same rights and obligations as other citizens. Thus the festival provides a strong stimulus to adopting measures for the equal participation and integration of persons with disabilities in society.
The films shown on BOSIFEST are given a lot of attention by the public, mostly by associations of persons with disabilities and the non-governmental sector across Serbia. Likewise, year after year, this film manifestation contributes to introducing the general public to the rights, status and needs of persons with disabilities, improving communication, accepting diversity, removing prejudice on persons with disabilities, and at the same time the film programme acts as a stimulation to create for new film and artistic works.
