The Roma Education Centre organized the ceremonial awarding of certificates on passing the Roma Language and Culture test for the attendants of the project “Introduction of the Roma Language with Elements of National Culture in Primary Schools in Serbia”, held at the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade.
The project “Introduction of the Roma Language into Primary Schools in Serbia”, financed by the European Union and implemented by the Centre for the Education of Roma and Ethnic Communities from Belgrade, aims to improve and develop educational programmes for raising the capacities of children and youth interested in the field of preserving and implementing education in the Roma language with elements of national culture. In addition to this, the project will empower, educate and provide for attaining certificates for at least 40 teachers of the subject Roma language with elements of national culture, as well as support their engagement in schools where the conditions for implementing teaching of the subject “Roma language with elements of national culture” exist.
The project “Introduction of the Roma Language with Elements of National Culture in Primary Schools in Serbia” is financed by the European Union as part of the programme “European Union Support to Inclusive Society”. The project duration is 20 months, and the total value of the project is EUR 159,000.
