State Secretary at the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, Dr Nenad Ivanišević, participated in the conference “Stop the Circle of Exclusion: Strengthening Families Living under Deprivation on Multiple Grounds” on 15 November, dedicated to priorities in improving efforts in the social protection system aimed at providing support to the most vulnerable children and families in crisis.
Ivanišević emphasized that it is in the best interest of the child for the family to remain together, because it plays a key role in their upbringing. Due to the “family advisor” service implemented by the Ministry of Labour in cooperation with UNICEF and the “Novak Đoković” Foundation, Ivanišević says that the risk of institutionalization for children has been decreased by providing technical, psychological, professional and all other forms of assistance to families. The State Secretary recalled that the regulation on targeted transfers has been adopted this year, intended for local communities, and added that the service of family associate would be included among the local community services.
