The Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Mladen Šarčević and Nataša Kočić Rakočević from the Roma Education Fund have signed a Memorandum on 25 April continuing the cooperation on projects aimed at creating sustainable mechanisms and policies for the inclusion of young Roma in the educational system in Serbia.
As noted at the meeting, cooperation will continue between REF and the Ministry of Education on the achievement of measures and activities required for the implementation of the project “Promoting the Employability of Young Roma”. The implementing party is REF, financed through the German financial cooperation programme funded by the German development bank KfW on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Germany – the Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development.
In accordance with the Memorandum of Cooperation, MESTD will take over from REF the implementation of the programme of scholarships for secondary school students and the provision of mentor support under its project “Drafting, implementation and monitoring of a sustainable state mechanism for Roma secondary school students, scholarship programme”, supported by IPA 2014 EU funds.
Furthermore, MESTD, with the technical and expert support of REF, will provide the conditions necessary for establishing, strengthening and sustainability of a programme for the prevention of drop-out of Roma secondary school students.
REF has been present in Serbia since 2006, cooperating with MESTD since 2007.
