State Secretary of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of the Government of the Republic of Serbia Tatjana Matić stated on 31 July that nine projects have been approved under the public call for awarding funds for the requalification and additional qualification of women in the field of ICT, with RSD 14,800,000 allocated.
In addition to the standpoint held by this programme in the Strategy for the Development of the IT Industry and other Ministry and Government documents for the development of this branch of the industry, ICT trainings of women were also initiated with the goal of providing a contribution to their social and economic empowerment, said Matić.
She also announced that efforts will be made to provide all attendants, numbering a total of 220, the opportunity for employment in the IT sector after completing training.
An important role there will be held by the associations whose programmes were approved for this call, guaranteeing through today’s signing of contracts for the quality of selection of candidates, i.e. for the quality of the trainings and certificates, said Matić, announcing that based on the results of these projects, even more comprehensive programmes will be prepared next year for the requalification of women in ICT.
Projects were selected by the following organizations: Centre for Entrepreneurship Kragujevac; Vojvodina ICT Cluster Novi Sad; Citizen’s Association Zaposlenje ORG Belgrade; Centre for Activism Vranje; Junior Chamber International Zrenjanin; Novi Sad Women’s Initiative Novi Sad; Citizen’s Association Local Self-Organization Belgrade; Svetionik Association Novi Pazar and SEE ICT Association Belgrade.
