The assistant minister for development and higher education, dr Milovan Šuvakov, speaking on behalf of the Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development on 19 June, greeted 30 future Roma language teachers who will attend the one-month course to gain the certificate of “Teacher of the Roma language”. Noting the importance of mother tongue and culture, assistant minister Šuvakov stated the efforts of this Ministry are aimed at preserving identity through the study of language. Future teachers of the Roma language were also encouraged by Aleksandra Vraneš, dean of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Belgrade.
Vitomir Mihajlović, president of the National Council of the Roma National Minority, as well as Marija Aleksandrović, MSc. will work with participants of this seminar during the coming month at the student resort “Radojka Lakić” on Avala.
