At the first meeting of the Roma Inter-Parliamentary Organization, the Declaration defining the goals of the organisation in terms of Roma inclusion was signed. The Declaration was signed in the Serbian parliament by Roma parliamentarians from Serbia, Macedonia, Slovakia, Croatia and Bulgaria, while Roma parliamentarians from Romania were also involved in drafting the document.
The principal goals stated in the Declaration are to raise awareness of the situation of the Roma and obstacles to solving their problems, to promote good national policies, solutions and actions regarding Roma rights and to cooperate with UN, CoE, EU and OSCE institutions in the sphere of human and minority rights.
