Published 17.06.2015.

ilustracijaThe feasibility study for introducing the dual education system should be complete by the end of the month and should indicate all costs the introduction of this system of education imposes, along with the benefits it provides, thereafter it will be presented to businesspeople, said the director for the Center for Education of the SCC Mirjana Kovačević.

At the initiative of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and with the support of the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology formed the Working Group for the Introduction of Vocational Education.

Dual education is learning at the workplace and a vocational school, and this type of education is applied in a large number of European countries, with the best known and most successful models being Austria and Germany.

Upon completing school the student most frequently remains to work at the enterprise where they had their practical education.

“Currently the drafting of the feasibility study is under way, with the assistance of experts from the German organization for technical cooperation – GIZ, and it should indicate all the costs the introduction of dual education imposes along with the benefits it will bring”, said Kovačević for RTS.

“The model as it exists in some other countries is impossible to copy absolutely here having in mind all the economic circumstance and situation here in Serbia”, said Kovačević.

The intention is to consider all the findings with businesspeople as of September and to decide on the option best suited for Serbia, i.e. to see what are the condition the economy meets and that need work on and what steps need to be undertaken.

As she said, the introduction of a dual education system will, however, need a bit more time.

At the moment, there are some schools and economic entities applying elements of dual education, through the GIZ project “Reform of Secondary Vocational Education”, said Kovačević, adding that models and systems in other countries are also being studied, because it is always better to learn from the experiences of others.
