On 29 March, the State Secretary at the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Nenad Ivanišević, signed the Agreement on Cooperation with the Roma Education Fund from Budapest and the National Employment Service.
Ivanišević, who is the president of the Council for the Improvement of the Status of Roma and the organisation of Roma Decade, explained that the Agreement envisaged the implementation of the “Improvement of the possibility for integration and education of Roma persons in Serbia, strengthening of employability of Roma youth and returnee reintegration” project.
He highlighted that this document was crucial for the members of the Roma community because it would increase the number of educated and employable individuals from this community, thus enabling them to break the vicious cycle of poverty.
The Agreement would, he added, contribute to the realisation of measures envisaged in the Strategy for Social Inclusion of Roma Men and Women.
The “Improvement of the possibility for integration and education of Roma persons in Serbia, strengthening of employability of Roma youth and returnee reintegration” project is supported by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany, and it is worth more than EUR 2.3 million.
