Marking the European Day of Protection of Children from Sexual Violence, 18 November 2016, Incest Trauma Centre – Belgrade, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, held a public presentation of educational packages for learning about the issue of sexual violence against children intended for kindergartens, primary and secondary schools in Serbia.
The following issues are integrated in the educational packages: gender roles, differences and sexual violence against children. They are intended equally for teaching kindergarten and school staff, parents/caretakers and children. They provide information on recognizing and reacting to sexual violence, on preventing sexual violence and interventions to be undertaken once the child makes it known that it is exposed to sexual violence, because if this knowledge is not provided form the youngest age, children are an easy target for offenders. The emphasis is on sexual violence in the family.
The development of the Educational Packages was supported by Canada Fund, Reconstruction Women’s Fund and World of Children Award.
