The Social Innovation Tournament promotes the creation of innovative ideas and rewards initiatives combating social exclusion. It covers projects in a wide range of areas – from education, healthcare and natural or urban environments, to new technologies, new systems and new processes. All projects compete in the General Category for the first and second prize amounting to EUR 25,000 and EUR 10,000. Projects dealing with the issue of equal possibilities, with special emphasis on persons with disabilities, also compete for the award in the Special Category, amounting to EUR 25,000. The other prizes include vouchers enabling a number of projects and their teams to make use of later services of training/mentorship.
Individuals or teams from (or residing in) European Union member states, candidate countries or potential candidate countries, or EFTA countries, can submit proposals for implementation in one or several of these countries.
The tournament is open to non-profit and for-profit organizations, young entrepreneurs and social enterprises, departments for corporate social responsibility in companies of any size in the private sector, NGOs, public or local administration bodies, as well as the academic community.
