An app that measures the level of alcohol in the blood and parasols with solar panels are just some of the creations resulted from the Caravan of Young Entrepreneurs, whose final ceremony was celebrated in the garden of the Rectorate of the University of Belgrade.
The objective of the joint project by the CCIS, RAS, and Youth Economic Forum was to teach young people about the advantages of entrepreneurship, encourage them, and motivate them to start their own businesses.
A film by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce — Let’s not Wait for Opportunities, Let’s Create Them Together — showing the ten most successful stories of young entrepreneurs was screened at the event.
After the screening, a panel discussion titled Youth and Economy: The Reality and the Future of Start-ups in Serbia was held with public and private sector representatives speaking about the potential of youth entrepreneurship, challenges, future plans, and trends that at the same time represent the future of economy.
The contribution of the 18-month long caravan to the development of entrepreneurship among young people is evident in the fact that more than 3,000 young people from 19 local governments were involved in the project, 180 of them were trained to write business plans and run companies within three five-day seminars, while 40 young entrepreneurs were promoted as examples of good practice.
The Council for Youth Entrepreneurship of the CCIS was launched, an online platform (omladinskopreduzetnistvo.pks.rs) intended for young entrepreneurs was created, and a number of accompanying activities and events also took place.
Youth and Economy: The Reality and the Future of Start-Ups in Serbia was supported also by the Technology Transfer Center of the University in Belgrade.
