On 19 June 2014, the Republic of Serbia officially joined the new program of the European Union for Cooperation – Erasmus+ which will last until the year 2020.
Erasmus + continues education programs in which Serbia has participated – Tempus, Erasmus Mundus, the Lifelong Learning Programme and Youth in Action programme.
The objective of the Programme is to contribute to greater synergy between formal, non-formal and informal learning, as well as to facilitate youth employment. The program will also allow better relations between the member states in defining educational policies, and will enable young people from Serbia to study in the European Union.
Ministry of Education and the Foundation “Tempus” in Serbia will help students to prepare projects and apply for the programme.
With total appropriations in the amount of 14.774 billion EUR for the next seven years, the programme Erasmus + will fund projects which support all levels of education and strengthen the potential of young people for active participation in civil society, solidarity and understanding between cultures.
In the area of sports, the priority is to support projects which may indirectly contribute to the alleviation of economic aspects of physical inactivity.
