The Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs of the Government of the Republic of Serbia Zoran Ðorđević said on 21 September that the EU will provide Serbia EUR 6.3 million through two projects for specific reforms aimed at reducing unemployment.
Speaking at a conference for the presentation of the projects “EU Assistance to the National Employment Service” and “EU Support to Employment Policy” Ðorđević noted that the EU has recognized the quality of what Serbia is doing, adding that these projects are a follow-up to all that has been done to date.
He emphasized that all measures implemented by the Government since 2014 aim for no more unemployment and poverty in the future, stating that the Ministry undertook a number of measures to eradicate the current situation, with a large number of people without qualifications on the registries of the National Employment Service.
The Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Sem Fabrizi stated that the EU is financing projects to help Serbia with active employment policy measures, particularly for persons who find it difficult to find jobs.
He emphasized that the above projects will help Serbia develop the capacities of the Ministry of Labour and the National Employment Service to have new and better active employment policies, and that this component is worth EUR 1.8 million, while EUR 4.5 million relates to the implementation of these active employment policies.
He elaborated that the funds obtained through the projects will be managed by the competent institutions in Serbia, adding that this is a sign of EU trust in Serbian institutions.
