During the commemoration of World Guide Dog Day, the first guide dog for blind and vision-impaired persons in Serbia was presented at the Old Palace.
The city secretary for social protection, Nataša Stanisavljević, awarded certificates to persons successfully competing training for blind and vision-impaired persons organized by the Association of the Blind and Vision-Impaired of Serbia “Beli štap”, writes Tanjug.
The president of the association “Beli štap”, Vesna Nestorović, thanked the Secretariat for Social Protection of the City of Belgrade, without whose assistance, as she noted, bringing guide dogs to Serbia would have been impossible. Nestorović reminded that Astor, the guide dog, arrived to Serbia in cooperation with the Slovenian association “Slo-Canisa” from Maribor, with the project supported by the Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs and the Embassy of Australia in Belgrade.
