During its session held on 28 June the Government of the Republic of Serbia adopted the draft conclusion on adopting the report on the implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (Istanbul Convention), based on a proposal of the Office of Deputy Prime Minister Zorana Mihajlović.
The drafting of the first national report submitted by Serbia to the GREVIO expert group – the international body competent for monitoring the implementation, was led by the Coordination Body for Gender Equality in cooperation with 260 entities, from the national, provincial and local level.
Serbia’s submission of the report to GREVIO will be followed by a two-year process of evaluating of the report and activities undertaken by the state in committing to the implementation of the Istanbul Convention.
This is a very important process that will provide our country with guidelines and recommendations for further activities aimed at combating gender based violence.
The Coordination Body for Gender Equality, as an institution recognized by the Council of Europe for the coordination of reporting and collation of all relevant information and data required to draft the national report to the GREVIO expert group, expresses its gratitude to all partners and sectoral institutions that have provided their contribution in drafting this important document.
The first national report, stating all important legislative and strategic measures undertaken by the state in combating gender based violence and backed by relevant statistical data, is available here (.pdf).
