Problems in the operation of small and medium companies and entrepreneurs contributed to the score whereas in 2014 ten were closed for every six enterprises opened, noted the participants of the meeting of support to the Fund for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises at the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (CCS).
The general manager of CCS, Nermina Ljubović, noted that the sector of small and medium enterprises comprises 99.8% of the total number of companies in Serbia, participating with 34% in the gross national product (GNP), 44.5% in exports and 66.5% in employment. “Unfortunately, the influence of this sector on measures and regulations regulating the economic system does not correspond to these indicators even remotely”, assessed Ljubović, and emphasized that the most vulnerable part of the sector are small and micro enterprises due to a lack of favourable micro-loans, adding that a special law should be adopted on micro financing.
The general manager of the Belgrade branch of the Development Fund, Milan Ljušić, stated that thus far the largest amount of funds from the Fund were earmarked precisely for small and medium enterprises.
