The head of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Serbia, Ambassador Michael Davenport, awarded grant contracts for 15 projects by civil society organizations and local self-government institutions in the south of Serbia. Project activities across 12 municipalities in the south of Serbia, worth over EUR 300,000, will be financed by the European Union and the Government of Switzerland through the European PROGRES programme, by way of the Citizen Participation Fund.
Two projects each will be financed in the south of Serbia, by way of the Citizen Participation Fund, in Bosilegrad, Bujanovac and Surdulica, while one each will be implemented in Trgovište, Vladičin Han, Vranje, Babušnica, Gadžin Han, Knjaževac, Lebane, Leskovac and Vlasotince. The main goals of the projects will be aiding the social inclusion of Roma citizens and persons with disabilities, supporting the economic empowerment of women and promoting inter-ethnic tolerance.
The activities of the European PROGRES, the programme contributing to the sustainable development of 34 municipalities in the south and south-east of Serbia by the end of 2017, will be supported by the European Union and the Government of Switzerland with a total of EUR 24.46 million.
