The Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs completed a competition for financing organizations of persons with disabilities, earmarking 214,752,989 dinars for this purpose, providing funds for the operation of 33 associations of persons with disabilities, line Minister Aleksandar Vulin stated on 8 February.
Speaking at the signing of the contract between the Ministry of Labour with the associations of persons with disabilities receiving the funds as per the Competition for Improving the Status of Persons with Disabilities for 2016, he said that funds will be provided for the operation of 22 national and 11 provincial associations, with those associations able to provide assistance in the implementation of various projects for 526 local organizations.
He emphasized that the same method will be used this year, and announced that the fund for support to the employment of persons with disabilities will be increased by another 50 million dinars.
Vulin reiterated that local self-governments are obliged to provide for exercising the rights of persons with disabilities and to provide maximum support, within the limits of their abilities, for opening various services where persons with disabilities can request support and assistance.
