The Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research, in cooperation with the Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs and the European Commission, as part of the European presidency over the Council of the European Union, have organized a conference on the topic of “Future of Vocational Education in Europe” on 9 and 10 July 2018 in Vienna.
The goal of the conference was to start an expert discourse with a focus on current and future challenges faced by vocational education systems in Europe. The conference gathered high-level European officials, experts and stakeholders in the field of vocational education, discussing a common vision of vocational education in Europe beyond 2020 and identified policy responses at the national and European level.
KulturKontakt Austria and the Initiative for the Reform of Education in South-Eastern Europe have organized the fifth regular meeting of the Western Balkans Alliance for work-based learning in Vienna, on 10 and 11 July 2018. This event was organized in light of the conference “Future of Vocational Education in Europe”.
Representatives of centres for vocational education (SEEVET Net) and chambers of commerce of Western Balkans countries from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, *Kosovo, Moldova, Macedonia and Serbia gathered to discuss the modernization of vocational education at the national and regional level and agree on the improvement and functioning of the online platform for continuous cooperation and dialogue between the education and business sectors in the field of work-based learning. In addition to the development of the platform, the meeting served to agree on starting the development of a common standard of occupations that will serve as the basis for the further development of relevant qualifications and curricula in the region.
