Assistant Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Government of the Republic of Serbia Vesna Mandić stated on 15 August that it represents a considerable success to have the University of Belgrade retain its spot on the Shanghai List, noting that the state and the line ministry will continue investing into higher education and science.

Mandić reminded that as of this year, the Shanghai List introduced a new feature in ranking universities across 52 scientific disciplines, and noted that the University of Belgrade is among the top 500 in the world in 17 areas, while the universities in Novi Sad, Niš and Kragujevac are ranked in the field of mathematics.
