“Support for Innovative Approaches to Increasing Employment and Employability of Youth” competition was completed with the grants being awarded to the ten best project proposals. Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development, Srđan Verbić, stated on that occasion that 122 civil society organisations in cooperation with the private sector entered the competition. He added that representatives from the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Policy, the Ministry of Youth and Sport, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) and Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Unit formed the Committee that evaluated the project proposals.
Verbić explained that applicants had the opportunity to choose from three different models – support for the early development of innovative approaches to the employment of youth, support for the improvement of the innovative approaches to the employment of youth, and support for the growth and expansion of the approaches to employment.
Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Switzerland in Serbia, Pauline Menthonnexx emphasized that Switzerland is convinced that investing in employment of youth is vital for the improvement of innovations, and thereby for encouraging economic competitiveness. Menthonnexx pointed to the position of her country that the economy requires experts and professional workforce; therefore, the education must be aligned with market needs, along with the establishment of strong public-private partnerships.
