“Help in the Home” Service Initiated in Three Municipalities in the Kolubarski District with EU Support

Published 14.10.2016.

cvaThe daily community service “Help in the Home” has been operational since July within the territory of the municipalities Mionica, Lajkovac and Ljig.

This service is part of the project “For More Solidarity Towards the Elderly – Kolubarski District Cluster for the Help in the Home Service” financed by the European Union through the programme “European Support for an Inclusive Society”, implemented by Caritas Valjevo in partnership with the Joint Social Work Centre “Solidarnost” Ljig, and the municipalities Mionica, Lajkovac and Ljig.

Nine caretakers, working with the support of a professional worker, provide support to beneficiaries within the territory of these three municipalities of the Kolubarski District in meeting their daily needs, in order to improve or maintain their quality of life, said Caritas Valjevo. The service is available to adults and elderly persons with limitations in their physical and psychological abilities, preventing them to live independently in their homes without regular assistance in daily living activities, care and supervision, with family support being insufficient or unavailable.

The service is currently being provided for 100 persons from the territory of the municipalities of Mionica, Lajkovac and Ljig. Upon the expiry of the project being implemented with the financial support of the European Union, the financing and further development of this daily community service will transition under the auspices of local self-governments.
