Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia and President of the Gender Equality Coordination Body Branka Drašković stated on 16 December that our country is doing everything it can to improve the status of women, both in cities, as well as rural areas.
Speaking at the opening of the conference “Implementation of the National Action Plan for Gender Equality at the Local Level”, Drašković recalled that the basic task of the above body is to coordinate all activities for increasing gender equality.
Drašković noted that Germany has invested approximately EUR 1.6 billion in Serbia to date, and as part of this it is also providing support for gender equality campaigns and projects.
The aim of the conference was presenting the National Gender Equality Strategy (2016-2020) and the Action Plan for its implementation for representatives of local self-government units, in order to facilitate the implementation of the NAP at the local level and establish efficient mechanisms for coordination and the monitoring of its implementation.
The event was organized by the Gender Equality Coordination Body in cooperation with the German organization for international cooperation (GIZ).
