The KOF Youth Labour Market Index displays various dimensions of youth inclusion in the labour market across 178 countries for the period 1991-2013. This index provides for selecting up to four countries or regions, comparing them and monitoring trends in the youth labour market over time.
The index contains four components: 1) youth status in the labour market; 2) quality of work; 3) educational activities; 4) ease of entry into the labour market.
The index is based on 12 indicators using ILO, OECD and Eurostat data. It can be used to compare the situation on labour markets regarding youth across 178 countries during a 12 year period.
The reasons for the more in-depth analysis of this index are the adoption of conclusions on the impact of differently structured educational systems on the youth labour market (Educational System and Labour Market Project) and the impact of laws and regulations on the status of youth on the labour market (Legislation and Outcomes on the Labour Market Programme).
The index is revised every four years and updated based on new data. It is accessible for all at any time, enabling more in-depth analyses and the development of the index over time.
