The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia adopted the Law on the Use of Sign Language on 28 April.
The adoption of the law should enable the full inclusion in all social affairs of deaf persons with disabilities, on equal footing with others, because only in this way are they enabled to achieve their rights, obligations and legal interest in various procedures before public services, in the educational process, with employers and in all other cases.
The law regulates the use of sign language in political life, educational work and other areas.
