The fifth meeting of the Joint Body for the Support to Social inclusion, Performance and Coordination of Monitoring the Performance of Inter-Sectorial Committees (ISC) for the assessment of the need for additional educational, medical and social support for children and students was held on Monday, 13 February 2017.
The Joint Body is comprised of State Secretaries from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-government, representatives of the Office for Human and Minority Rights, Social inclusion and Poverty Reduction Unit, Republic Institute for Social Protection, UNICEF, Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities, as well as representatives from civil society organisations – Support Network for Inclusive Education, Centre for Interactive Pedagogy, Initiative for Inclusion VelikiMali, Mental Disability Rights Initiative of Serbia MDRI-S, and the Association “Roditelj”.
The findings which resulted from the implementation of the “Improvement of the professional support in the community – a crucial step towards the social inclusion of children – strengthening the capacity of Inter-Sectoral Committees in local communities to provide additional support for children to engage in early development and education.” project were presented at the meeting. This project was implemented by the Centre for Social Policy in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development and UNICEF. It was also agreed that each institution would appoint a representative for the Working Group for the preparation of the Rulebook on providing additional educational, medical and social support to children and students, the development of the Manual for local self-government units, the development of a database for monitoring ISC performance, and the preparation of the Report on the performance of the Inter-Sectoral Committees.
At the meeting, the participants agreed that the mandate of the Joint Body should be extended from the support and coordination of the monitoring the performance of Inter-Sectoral Committees to the wider scope of educational and social inclusion. The next meeting of the Joint Body is planned for May 2017.
