Members of the OSCE Mission to Serbia for Roma inclusion have talked with the representatives of the city municipality of Mladenovac on the integration of members of the Roma national community and the results of the mobile teams for Roma inclusion.
The project, financed by the European Union, formed a network of mobile teams and coordinators in 20 municipalities and towns across Serbia, submitting reports and cooperating every month to improve the living conditions of Roma in Serbia.
The city municipality of Mladenovac is the only municipality in Serbia to form a local mobile team for Roma inclusion in late 2016, independently, outside of this project, commended by OSCE Mission representatives along with the initiator of this idea, member of the Council of the City Municipality of Mladenovac, Suzana Vasić.
The mobile team for Roma inclusion of the City Municipality of Mladenovac has five members, and is comprised of the member of the Council of the City Municipality of Mladenovac tasked with social issues, national minorities, improvement and protection of human and minority rights, representatives of the Centre for Social Work Belgrade, Department of Mladenovac, and the National Employment Service, Mladenovac Branch, as well as a healthcare mediator and pedagogical assistant for the territory of the City Municipality of Mladenovac.
Ever since its founding the team worked on regular visits to Roma settlements, as well as surveys of the needs of the Roma community in the municipality, particularly in the fields of education, healthcare and social welfare, and employment.
