The State Secretary in the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of the Government of the Republic of Serbia Tatjana Matić stated that more than 5,000 students participated in presentations on protection from digital violence and other forms of Internet abuse, within this year’s IT Caravan.
Matić emphasised that there was a discussion with the students about the dangers of Internet use, and among other topics about how to recognize and report so-called “challenge games”, online predators and similar negative online behaviours; but also about numerous positive possibilities offered by the new technology with regard to the improved quality and speed of acquiring knowledge and skills.
She reminded everyone that primary school students had the opportunity to attend robotics workshops and that all 17 schools included in the programme received a set of educational robots for learning programing with which they would be able to participate in the next year’s competition.
The IT Caravan campaign was launched last year when it visited 15 cities in Serbia. This year it lasted from 25 April until 25 May. The partners of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications on this project are the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, Ministry of Interior, organization “Save the Children” for the northwest Balkans and the company “Microsoft”.
