Online Week is the annual European campaign focused on spreading literacy in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT). This year Online Week will be held throughout Europe from March 14 to March 20. For seven years Serbia has been participating in this Campaign and by organizing different activities it has encouraged digital inclusion and digital empowerment of the population.
During the Online Week schools, libraries, public services, non-governmental organizations and IT companies all around Europe will come together to organize a number of interesting events, training courses, and competitions, as well as to highlight the key role of IT in today’s society.
This year’s activities will focus on raising awareness about online services, Internet safety and ICT skills. Also, the focus will be on the promotion of digital jobs, and encouraging the youth and the unemployed to develop and improve their digital skills. Surveys have shown that one ICT job opens three more job positions in the economy, which is crucial for countries with the high unemployment rate. Just as areminder, more than the third of Europe’s population does not possess digital skills, while 90% of jobs in the future will require knowledge of the information and communication technologies.
