On 13 June, the State Secretary at the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Vladimir Ilić stated that it was an obligation and responsibility of the state to provide care and protection to citizens whose rights are the most vulnerable because that relationship was how the degree of social development was determined.
During the opening of the “Persons with dystrophy as equal citizens” roundtable which was held on the occasion of the Fight against Dystrophy Week, Mr. Ilić stated that, in the last three years, the line ministry allocated RSD 25 million for the implementation of programme activities of the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Serbia and other local associations.
He said that the common goal was to raise awareness on rights and possibilities, as well as on issues faced by persons affected by progressive neuromuscular diseases. Currently, there are around 1,800 persons with some form of dystrophy in our country.
