The Ministry of Youth and Sports presented the results of the annual survey on the status and needs of young people in Serbia in 2015. The survey was conducted from September to November 2015, on a representative national sample of young people aged 15 to 30.
This survey was more complex and extensive compared with the previous survey, with two stages of field research that both included a representative national sample of 1.500 young people, along with 12 focus groups organised in every major city in Serbia. Topics covered in the survey presented the key issues for young people: the living conditions, employment, entrepreneurship, internships, career guidance and counselling, informal education, mobility, volunteering, social inclusion, health, safety, culture, access to information and others.
This year’s survey showed that unemployment and the economic situation remain the most important issues of the youth in Serbia, but less than in 2014 (23,5% in 2015 compared to 38,5% in 2014). Although 46,1% considers extracurricular training an important part of their further development, so far only 26% of young people have completed some of them, while 37% think they are not offered enough of those types of training.
