The European Enlargement Commissioner, Stefan Fule welcomed the decision of the Serbian authorities to allow holding of Pride Parade, calling it a milastone in the modern history of democratic Serbia.

“The EU condemns the threats of extremist groups and welcomes the decision of the Government of Serbia to allow Pride Parade and the preparations that preceded it. We commend the professional attitude of the security forces that protected the Parade participants. The commitment of the security forces, the Parliament and the respected politicians as well as of the diplomatic community and the civil society in Serbia represents significant progress towards efficient exercise of rights of LGBTI community and exercise of human rights in the wider context”, states Fule in the press release.
