The project “Kindergartents without Borders 2 – Quality Inclusive Preschool Education in Serbia“, implemented in partnership of UNICEF and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia and CIP-Center for Interactive Pedagogy and other partners with the support of the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency was presented at the Belgrade Museum of Science and Technology on 30 September.
According to the latest data of the survey of the Republic Statistical Office and UNICEF, 50.2% of children aged 3 to 5.5 are captured by preschool education in Serbia which is considerably under the EU average of 87%. The capture of children from socially vulnerable groups is significantly lower: 5.7% of children from informal Roma settlements, 9% of children from deprived families, 27% of children from rural areas. No data are available on the children with developmental problems and disabilities.
Following the successful implementation of the project “Kindergartens without Borders – More Opportunities for Learning and Development of Young Children”, the project “Kindergartents without Borders 2″ represents a continuation of activities aimed at higher inclusion of children aged 3 to 5.5, including the children from socially vulnerable categories into short quality inclusive programmes, advancement of knowledge and skills of professsionals, and improvement of the legal framework of the system to the benefit of children and families. The project is implemented in 10 cities/municipalities in Serbia (Smederevo, Loznica, Leskovac, Sjenica, Odžaci, Krupanj, Bojnik, Čačak, Nova Varoš and Čukarica/Belgrade).
