State Secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Tatjana Matić assessed that the adoption of the Provision on the Safety and Protection of Children Using Information-Communication Technologies at the session of the Government of Serbia held on 30 June is of immense significance for the protection of children and youth in information society.
The Provision on the Safety and Protection of Children Using Information-Communication Technologies orders the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, the body that proposed the adoption of this regulation, to undertake preventive measures for the safety and protection of children online through information and education, as well as to establish as single point for providing advice and receiving reports regarding child safety online.
The Provision is in accordance with the Law on the Ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the General Protocol of the Government of Serbia for the Protection of Children from Abuse and Neglect, as well as the EU Strategy for a Better Internet for Children from 2012.
The Law on Information Security was also adopted earlier this year and for the first time in Serbia, while the Strategy for the Development of Information Security of the Republic of Serbia is under development, intended to additionally improve the digital environment and information security of all citizens of Serbia.
