The Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Srđan Verbić, stated on 14 October that Serbia is the only country in Europe without a National Qualifications Framework and announced that the law and registry of qualifications should be adopted early next year.
During a public hearing regarding “National Qualifications Framework (NQF) – Connecting Education and the Labour Market in Serbia”, Verbić noted that qualifications should show what a person knows and can do, not only the school degree they have and what school they attended.
He said that a separate service should be established early next year to be at the service of citizens and business and respond to all their questions regarding NQF and the needs of the labour market. The Minister also noted the significance of the qualifications including everything obtained during informal education.
NQF is a catalogue of degrees of qualifications gained with descriptions of learning outcomes corresponding to each level, regardless of the method and field a qualification is obtained in.
