Among the 577,995 registered migrants in Serbia during the past two years, 172,965 are children on the move, with 10,645 unaccompanied children!
The term “children on the move” encompasses several categories in Serbia, namely:
- Child victims of human trafficking,
- Children working or living in the street,
- Child returnees based on the readmission agreement,
- Child victims of international kidnap, and
- Unaccompanied foreign citizen children.
The “Save the Children” organization, monitoring trends and positive practices in the field of protection of children on the move as part of the project “Reform of the Social Protection System according to the Needs of the Child”, developed practical “Recommendations for the Adaptation of Proven Models of Support for Children on the Move in Serbia”, available here.
