On 21 July, the member of City Council and the President of the Employment Council of the City of Belgrade Dragomir Petronijević, and the Undersecretary for Social Protection Jasmina Ivanović presented the results of the project “Social Inclusion of Vulnerable Groups through Acquiring IT Skills”.
Petronijević highlighted that in the last three and a half years the City of Belgrade worked hard on providing employment for hard to employ groups and that the IT training had been successfully completed by 96 persons with disabilities.
He added that the City of Belgrade and the Republic of Serbia had a number of measures that promote employment of hard to employ groups and that those individuals proved themselves to be reliable employees after the completion of the training. Petronijević announced an intensified cooperation with the private sector, as well as with persons with disabilities, so, as he said, their needs could be understood more comprehensively.
– The ultimate goal of this project is to launch an IT education centre for people with disabilities in which they will be able to train, work for other companies and expand their own business, as well as to create new jobs using their knowledge and skills – announced Petronijević. He also thanked the initiators and teachers who organised and conducted the training programme, the NGO sector, the line ministry and the National Employment Service.
