The Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM) published a Manual for the Development and Implementation of Local Economic Development Programmes. The manual will serve organizational units competent for local economic development as a guide in their efforts to improve the actions in the field of planning assistance for the local economy, as well as foreign investors, and for creating conditions for the development of an efficient support system for the economic development of their local community.
The manual describes the entire process of adoption of Local Economic Development Programmes, while simultaneously reviewing the key motives for their implementation, the legal basis, the contents of the Programme, a selection of various sub-measures/investments for contributing to economic development through two main measures: attracting investments and stimulating competitiveness, institutional steps in the preparation, implementation and monitoring of Local Economic Development Programmes, and model documents that may be used by towns and municipalities in the process of its implementation.
As such, the Manual for the Development and Implementation of Local Economic Development Programmes will play a large role in the creation of economic development policies with full respect for specific local factors that correspond to the specific local self-government and its economy.
