Serbia has the highest index of youth participation in the political, economic and social sphere, compared to countries in the region, but it remains far from the level of participation of youth in European Union countries. The youth participation index in public life in Serbia for 2017 was 10, followed by Macedonia with 9.3, Montenegro with 9 and Albania with an index of 8.1. All countries register an increase in youth participation compared to the previous year.
This is the main data point contained in the survey Youth Participation Index in Western Balkans Countries and Turkey, implemented for the second time in a row by the Network of Youth Funds in the South of Balkans and Turkey, presented on 7 December and the Youth Policy Forum – FOP 2018. The event was organized with the aim of networking key stakeholders in youth policy, to have an event for discussing key topics for youth, and to send a clear message that intersectoral and continuous care must be taken of youth.
More data on the Youth Participation Index in these countries, representing a unique method of measuring youth participation in public life in Europe, can be found at www.ybhwbt.eu.
The Youth Policy Forum is one of the key events dealing with youth policy development at the national level. The Forum, with support by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, was organized for the second time by the Youth Umbrella Organization of Serbia, this year in cooperation with the “Ana i Vlade Divac” Foundation.
