The research “Secondary Analyses of Data Obtained through the Survey on Income and Living Conditions – SILC” published by the Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Unit of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the United Nations Development Program is under way.
The intent of this programme is to motivate and support researchers starting their careers to analyse hitherto unresearched social phenomena, using the latest data and reflecting on it in new contexts. Support in this process is provided for the young researchers by mentors, experts with years of experience.
Likewise, the goal of the research is a deeper understanding of factors impacting poverty, social exclusion, material deprivation, risk of poverty, inequality, access to labour market, and other aspects of importance for the quality of life of individuals and families in the Republic of Serbia.
A total of 11 analyses are currently being drafted to respond to questions such as:
- How does the status of the environment impact poverty/inequality?
- How did the amendments to the Labour Law impact the 55 to 64 population?
- Unemployment trap – what is it and how can it be calculated?
- What factors impact the structure and amount of income of the rural population?
- Is there a link between quality of life and geographic-spatial characteristics of settlements and areas of life?
- What are the challenges for youth in transition towards the labour market?
- What are the profiles of socially vulnerable groups?
- What factors impact the level and structure of income in rural areas?
